Virtual Casan Reality Glasses
"They put a bag on your head. Soul, the quality of the picture is terrible. Ilya Flax remembers his first experience of immersion into virtual reality in the late 1990s. The helmets were too cumbersome and expensive - now they're dusting on the shelves of collectors like Palmer Laki, the maker of Oculus. With the evolution of electronics, the components have become cheaper and smaller.
Flax came to create his own helmet at the end of 2013. By then, the entrepreneur has been professionally developing games for 10 years. In 2004, a car simulator was created with a partner, followed by browser games, then switched to games for social media and mobile devices (Immo Games and Fibstone).
In the first phase, there were six people on the helmet development team, now about 20. The device is quite simple, no electronics. The screen shall be used by any diagonal smartphone between 4 and 6 inches, the immersion effects create spherical and aspherical lenses. But there was a need for an optic specialist capable of picking up the size, focus distance. Flax recalls that he conducted more than five interviews with a man from a scientific environment who used to be lasers and optic for phototech. He was the one who proposed the design of an optical system that allows Fibrum to be used by people with short-sightedness, and with long-sightedness, from 5 to +5 dioptres. At first, the lenses were glued together, but the slightest inaccuracy reduced the presence effect. It ended up on the lens without the sticker.
